Acceptance
By downloading, installing, activating, or using Voxstr, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not install or use Voxstr. If you are using Voxstr on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these terms, and "you" refers to that organization.
Service description
Voxstr is a macOS dictation application that captures microphone audio when you hold a hotkey, transcribes the audio to text on-device, and inserts the text into your focused application. Speech-to-text and optional AI cleanup run locally on your Mac. The app does not transmit your audio, transcripts, or vocabulary to any server. Voxstr is gated by a license key issued at purchase; certain features require an active license to function.
License grant
Subject to your continued compliance with these terms and payment of any applicable fees, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Voxstr for personal or commercial purposes. Each license entitles you to activate Voxstr on one device unless your specific plan grants additional device slots, in which case the count is shown at checkout and on your customer portal page. You may not reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, redistribute, sublicense, sell, rent, lease, or otherwise transfer Voxstr or your license key, except to the extent that this restriction is prohibited by applicable law. License keys are personal to the original purchaser; sharing a key with others is a material breach of these terms.
Subscriptions, billing, refunds
Voxstr is sold through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record for all purchases. Lemon Squeezy handles payment processing, fraud prevention, sales tax collection, and invoicing. Your payment relationship for the purchase is with Lemon Squeezy under their terms; your software-license relationship is with us under these terms.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the interval shown at checkout (for example, monthly or annually) until you cancel. You can cancel anytime from your Lemon Squeezy customer portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and you keep access until then. Refunds are governed by Lemon Squeezy's standard 14-day money-back policy: if you are unsatisfied within 14 days of an initial purchase or renewal, you may request a refund through Lemon Squeezy. We will honor any refund Lemon Squeezy approves and revoke the corresponding license.
Beta cohort pricing (Wave-1)
Voxstr's Wave-1 beta cohort is offered at promotional pricing redeemed through a launch promo code. Beta-cohort prices are locked for the lifetime of your license as long as the license remains continuously active: if you let the subscription lapse and reactivate later, the then-current standard price applies to the new term. After the Wave-1 cohort closes, new customers will be billed at the standard price; this does not affect the locked price for existing Wave-1 license holders in good standing.
User conduct
You agree to use Voxstr only for lawful purposes and only in ways that do not infringe the rights of others or restrict or inhibit anyone else's use of the software. Specifically, you will not: abuse the license-activation endpoint (including by automating activation requests, attempting to bypass device limits, or probing for vulnerabilities); share your license key publicly or with parties not covered by your license; use Voxstr to dictate content you do not have a right to record (for example, recording other people without consent where consent is required); or use Voxstr in connection with any activity that violates applicable law.
Privacy
Voxstr is local-first. The app does not collect your dictated audio, your transcripts, or your custom vocabulary — these never leave your Mac. The only data that crosses the network is your license key during activation and re-validation, and an anonymized device identifier for device-slot accounting. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
Voxstr is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that Voxstr will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, nor do we warrant that transcription accuracy will meet your specific requirements. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total cumulative liability arising out of or relating to Voxstr or these terms is limited to the amount you paid us for Voxstr in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or business, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Termination
You may stop using Voxstr at any time by uninstalling the app and cancelling your subscription through your Lemon Squeezy customer portal. We may suspend or revoke your license for material breach of these terms — for example, sharing license keys, abusing the activation endpoint, or attempting to reverse engineer the software — with or without prior notice depending on the severity of the breach. If we revoke your license for material breach, you are not entitled to a refund of fees already paid. If we cease to offer Voxstr generally, we will give existing license holders reasonable notice and refund the unused portion of any prepaid term in line with Lemon Squeezy's policy.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction of Voxstr's primary place of business. Update this section when the company is formally domiciled.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Non-material changes (typo fixes, clarifications that do not alter your rights) take effect immediately on publication. Material changes — such as changes to fees, license scope, refund policy, or liability — will be announced via in-app notification or email to the address on your license, and will take effect no sooner than 30 days after that notice. Your continued use of Voxstr after the effective date of a material change means you accept the updated terms; if you do not accept them, cancel your subscription before the effective date.
